Just recently got a Charge 5 as my Charge 4 went missing and I needed to replace it.
The strap and screen are overall a lot better for me than the Charge 4 which is great, haven't used it for much exercising yet but it seems to be more detailed.
That said I've found 2 major (imo) issues with the Charge 5 over the 4 that I'd like to see fixed for the next model (one of them fixed for the Charge 5)
I've noticed many people have mentioned the UI on the Charge 5. It's far too loud, overdesigned and terrible at conveying the information you need when compared to the 4.
It's very disappointing that the simplistic and effective interface of the 4 isn't one of the options available in the 5. There's 23 options in the 5 but every one is designed for style over use and make it confusing to use as either a watch or exercise tool. There's no issue with having them (it's great selection tbh) but Fitbit should really just add the Charge 4 UI or a UI like it with more utility to the Charge 5 since it would be easy to add in an update.
The second is the lack of a physical button, this is an issue with most modern devices but there really is no excuse to not include at least one basic button for activating/deactivating the screen, touch screens simply do not work for everyone and can be extremely unreliable, the Charge 5 absolutely should have a basic button for turning on/off the screen and any subsequent ones should include it.
Overall the 5 is neat enough but I'm seriously considering returning it and going for a Garmin after these experiences, they're minor issues that just grind at me at least once a week while using the watch.
