I got a fitbit for Christmas, by May it developed charging problems; when I forget to charge it it needed days on the charger to finally make a connection, during that time I frequently fiddled with the charger, until it finally did come back to life (I had almost given up then). I visibly inspected the charger, found no obvious damage or corrosion. That happened each of the 3 times I forgot to charge in time. I also realized at some point the vibration (10K steps, or text message etc.) stopped at some point, but assumed the settings were messed up with the total discharge.
That last time was different: It was not discharged when I put it on the charger, I saw it made a connection, got it after a few hours, to realize the next day it had not charged. I put it on the charger, saw it made connection, came back to it being completely dead. The last 3 or 4 days I unplugged both device and cable several times, tried the charging block with a different usb cable (works). I conclude it's broken... Any more ideas?

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @sonjaka!
Sad to hear that you're having issues with your Charge 5.
Thanks for having tried to get things fixed by yourself. As a start I'd suggest having a look here to hopefully get things fixed:
How do I clean my Fitbit device?
Also please make sure that the charging pins of the charging adapter can move.
