Charge 5 won't charge anymore

Like many others have said my charge 5 no longer takes a charge after the firmware update.  Spoke with fitbit customer service, they told me to clean the watch charging area with alcohol and the charger with alcohol. Then push the buttons on the charger cord.  Didn't get anywhere with that.  Bought my fitbit 11/28/2021 it is less than 2 years old and now broken.  The warranty is a year in the U.S. but 2 years in Europe, why the difference?

They told me I could have 50% off a new device, not including the charge 6 and a few others.  I do not want another charge 5 as it will not last long.  I lost my charge 2 in 2021 when the face fell off the band.  My husbands charge 2 is still going strong 4+ years and it survived the recent update. This company truly does not care about the people who they sell these watches too.  I hope many will do as I am going to do and that is buy another tracker from a company that cares about their customers and seeks to please them.

Oh this has happened to my Charge 5 too! It is now just a black screen.   Do you think it is due to the update?  It does buzz when I press the charger button 3 times, the fitbit icon flashes up and then ot is just black again.  I've got a heart issue and I need this to keep an eye on things.   Really frustrated by it all  😕

Hi there, @kinderworld. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the inconvenience with your Charge 5. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration.

As you mentioned, I've seen you were offered a discount towards a new Fitbit device and I'd like to take the time to answer (probably) your inquiry regarding why we offered a discount towards a new Fitbit product instead of a replacement of your existing Fitbit product.

With that being said, please note our limited warranty provides repair or replacement of products that have a defect while still in the warranty period. Your device is out of the warranty period, and therefore is not eligible for repair or replacement, but we want to offer you a discount to thank you for your loyalty to Fitbit.

For more information about our warranty, see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty.

Even though, I truly appreciate that you've taken the time to come here and share your experience, please note for this kind of inquiries/cases, there's no so much we here in the forums can do for you as this is something that our Support Team handles based on our policies. Nevertheless, please feel free to reach out to them again if you need further assistance or clarification regarding the outcome of your case.

@AliJacko It's nice to see you around! Thanks for the details provided in your post. I understand how you must be feeling.

If you haven't done so yet, please restart your Fitbit device as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

To better assist you with the hear rate, may I know what the issue is?

Did you clean the charger little pins and the watch pins it connects to with alcohol? The Fitbit support told me to do that, it didn’t work. Just before my watch died completely it flashed the Fitbit icon numerous times and then the screen went black for good. This is my second or third Fitbit and I like them a lot but I am going to move on and try another brand of tracker, this company doesn’t seem to want to keep its customers.
Hope your watch revives!
