Charge 5 won't charge properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had this problem for a while now - I am charging my watch and an intense green light comes on which I cannot switch off, also the phone dies immediately after a charge of (1) hour. Have I overcharged the watch as it no longer works, yet when I charge it indicates that it is charging. I have had the watch around 12 months and am becoming increasingly frustrated.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Thank you

Hi there, @SADstudio. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still not charging. I understand how you must be feeling, I will do my best to help you with this!

There are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. As per the description of your post, it could be a sign the contacts need cleaning. Confirm that you've tried all tips and recommendations provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

On a side note, may I know if your Charge 5 ran out of battery? Keep in mind that a Fitbit might not seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely).  I would suggest putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working.  Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.

Thank you for your prompt response. I have tried all what you have
suggested and the same applies as the Fitbit does not work as in not
switching on. Also, a piercing green light comes on and it cannot be turned
off - the light is on the back of the watch where the watch is charged. As
I am able to access the face I cannot see anything on the screen as it is
black and seems drained of battery yet when charging it shows 48% part
charged. All very confusing and limits me to know what to do in how to
resolve this issue

Kind Regards
