Charge 5 won't hold a charge

I bought a fitbit charge 5 about 1 year ago and its been working fine since. However recently it hasn't been holding its charge and running out of battery in less then a day. I haven't changed any settings that would effect battery life. I've restarted it and factory reset it but still no luck.

Mine started doing this one week ago.  first I noticed it was dead it didn't last a day, the unit would not charge and the firmware was jammed making it unable to start I resolved these issues with a bunch or resets and patience.  After that I noticed the battery seems to die about 20 hours after a full charge,

It's not an old unit but something changed on this and it's no longer usable.

Just come here to see if anyone else is having that problem. I’m charging mine twice a day. It’s driving me crazy. I’ve tried all kinds but it’s not fixing it 😢

Same - today and yesterday, my Charge 5 goes from fully charged in the morning and is dead by the time I track my bike ride into work (about 40 minutes). Was fine last week.

Mine’s exactly the same - won’t hold the charge at all now. Charged to 100% at 10am and down to 79% by 1pm and I haven’t even left my desk!! And it’s only 2-yrs old.
A few months ago it held a charge for 7-10 days. I never use GPS, notifications, link to my phone as these were battery drainers when I first bought it!!
And now the App on the iPhone is unreliable recording pace when I walk or run. Whole product is virtually unusable and I used to love my Fitbit. Will not buy another now unless Fitbit can convince me otherwise ???

When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery drain, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I noticed the battery% had a big drop, I restarted and put my Fitbit on the charger, often doing this multiple times in a day. This process eventually got my Charge 5 "unstuck" and the battery life went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work, it might be worth a try.

Same here.  I have tried the USB charger reset and the device restart.  Battery drains quickly and device no longer records any data - steps, distance, activity.  I have cleared the user data (based on advice for not counting steps) and now the device simply cycles looking for something.  I can no longer sync.  The device does not go into a mode where it can be paired to Bluetooth.

Same thing happened to me about a week ago.  Went from 7-10 days to not making it a full day without needing a charge.   Extremely frustrating.

Mines been the same for the last week. It won't hold charge for the usual 5-7 days it would do. Now it wont last 18 hours without battery drainage. I had only bought it in May last year. I have currently gone back to one that isn't Fitbit and it still works as good as the day I decided to leave that one and return to the Fitbit world as I ordered the charge 5. I can honestly say that I will not be returning for a third time unless fitbit resolve this issue very soon. Fitbit charge 5 charged this morning at the same time as my Huawei Band 4 Pro, fitbit battery life after sitting in my bag all day is currently 53%. Huawei Band 4 Pro battery life after being on my wrist all day and in use is currently 93%. Clearly a winner here and its not Fitbit

I rang Amazon where I got it from & they put me through to Fitbit. They
told me to press the button on the Fitbit charger 3x. It worked but not for
long. Fitbit replaced mine in the end.
