My Charge 5 does not receive texts from my IPhone 12 Max. It did in the past. Any ideas?

I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to iPhone 14, and the same thing happened; suddenly I wasn't getting my texts.  At one point, Fitbit asked me if I wanted to sync my Fitbit to my phone, and I answered yes - and, voila! - problem solved.  See if there's a setting where you can sync the two?
