Charge 5 won't respond to taps

A few days ago my screen stopped responding to taps.  It still lights up, but I can't toggle through the stats or look at any screen except the clock screen.  I contacted Support and tried the reset and also tried to change my clock face.  Neither worked.  Surprise, surprise, my fitbit is just out of warranty.  I bought it in March of last year and contacted support regarding this issue a few days ago.  I have been a loyal FitBit customer for many years.  This is my 6th or 7th tracker to be replaced.  They always seem to last until just outside of the warranty period.  I have been offered 35% off of a new tracker, but I think I am going to switch companies.  Trackers should last for more than a year.  I made sure to take care of this one.  I hardly take it off, but it hasn't been dropped or banged against anything.  The premium features are a joke and not worth the price per year that fitbit is charging.  They took away the coolest feature in not having challenges anymore.  I finally wised up and bought the extended warranty through All State.  Trying to file a claim has been a huge hassle, but I finally managed to do it.  I wonder if they don't make it difficult so that people will just get so frustrated and give up.  It sure felt that way, but I don't like to be cheated and persisted.  I'm sad to go as I liked the Charge's features and the data it provides me.  Other trackers are more expensive, but I am hoping that they will be more reliable and last longer.

You change screens by swiping, not by tapping.

Both work for me. My problem is getting the screen to turn on. I've basically given up on it.

I feel that the Fitbits have gotten worse, not better, over the years.

So basically, this is a complaint, not a request for help, which is okay.

My problem is getting the screen to turn on. Changing screens, once activated, works by swipes or taps, and, for me works fine.

I can't swipe or tap. Tapping toggles the current screens view to show different metrics.

Yes. Fitbit's answer for my past several trackers is to give me a discount on a new one. I would like for them to make them more reliable so I don't have to continue to buy a new tracker ever 14 months.
