Charge 5 won't sync and time is not correct

My 1.5 year old Fitbit Charge 5 stopped syncing with my phone. I've followed all the reset and turn off advice.  Turned off both phone and watch, turned bluetooth on and off.  Watched countless videos and read other users suggestions. Nothing is working.  Any advice?  This is my second Fitbit that has had issues after about 1.5 years.  Is that really the life expectancy on these?

I have exactly the same problem. 
My Charge 5 started doing this when I’d had it about 23 months. 
It doesn’t hold its charge more than two days, develops a black screen, if I charge it I get the wrong time etc. 

I have tried all the steps that others have suggested but it still continues to have the problem.
