Charge 5 won't track my sleep data

Bought charge 5 and changed from charge 4. But this new clock does not track sleep. What to do? Already restarted it but did not help. Returning and changing to other vendor seems to only option.

Hi there, @mieitte. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out.

While reading your post, I understood that you just got the Charge 5, right? If so, please note since you just bought it, give the RHR a few days to settle down. It does some calculations, looking at heart rate throughout the day and while you are sleeping, so it might just not have enough data to give a reasonable value yet.

In addition to that, I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

Hi MarreFitbit and thanks for the tips but they won't help me at all. Yes the new device is Charge 5. I had Charge 4 earlier and everything was working fine. Been  wearing the Charge 5 since 30.8 so it should have been able to calibrate itself and collected enough data.

Here are the issues:

  1. won't track sleep data
  2. android app sync does not work, only updates current date steps and yesterday's reading resets to 0
  3. it says in app that last synced is the moment i connected the new device which is 30.8 19:35
  4. under app device page sync now is greyed out and i cannot press it
  5. device firmware version 57.20001.188.58 seems to be old but no updates visible for me
