After waiting for my Fitbit to arrive all week I was so excited to get it set up. However it will not (no matter how hard I try) complete the update. I managed to pair the Fitbit with my phone fine but when it starts the update the bar gets to about 15/20% complete and gives up. It either gets stuck or I get a Red Cross which says ‘try again’.
So far I’ve tried:
- restarting Fitbit
- restarting phone
- updating IOS on phone
- disabling and enabling Bluetooth
- forgetting Fitbit device and repairing
- uninstalling Fitbit app and reinstalling
- tried on my dads phone but had same issues
I was on the phone to Fitbit support for over 30 minutes where they made me do all of the above several times with no luck. They have referred my case onto higher tech support but said now that it’s the weekend I won’t hear until next week! I’m so disappointed as was looking forward to having my new Fitbit working.
Anyone else had the same issues and found a fix?

There is an acknowledged Bluetooth/syncing issue affecting many of us who bought Charge 5s. Look at all the threads. My guess is that yours is experiencing a similar problem with Bluetooth timing out. Fitbit moderator said they’re working to resolve the issue. Hopefully you specifically get your issue addressed. None of the Fitbit current suggested fixes for Bluetooth resolve the problem.
