I went for a swim in the sea and now my charge has stopped working. I have tried resetting and all I get is the Fitbit logo. Any ideas please??

Hi, @Claudiehart , how I proceeded in a case like this would depend (for me) on how old the Fitbit is - so whether it is covered under warranty.  In the USA and most other jurisdictions the warranty is one year.  In Europe (and I think Australia) you are covered for two years.

If your Charge 5 is still under warranty I would recommend getting in touch with Fitbit Customer Support.  You can see the ways of reaching them on Contact.fitbit.com .

If you are out of warranty then I would take more radical steps.  Usually if the issue is just water in the Fitbit you can dry it out by putting it in a bag of uncooked rice for 72 hours or so.  With salt water damage, odd as it sounds, you might be best off first rinsing  your Fitbit thoroughly in fresh water, or soaking it in water, to reduce the salt and then putting it in rice.

Water resistance can wear out over time, due to exposure to sun, to creams and cosmetics, or to force of water (for example diving or very strong waves) - or a combination of factors….

If your Fitbit does recover I would recommend assuming that it is no longer water resistant and treating it accordingly.

Good luck.  Let us know how it goes.  Welcome to the forums!
