Hi,
I have been wearing a charge 5 since March 2022, and have noticed that the max BPM measured in workout-mode is appr. 30 points higher compared to max BPM depicted in the heart rate section of the app. This week I noticed that when I start a workout on the watch, the BPM creep up even though I am still sitting down. i managed to get 198 zone minutes yesterday, a sedentary (working behind the computer) day, just by having the watch in workout mode!!!
Does anyone recognise this? Is it a bug in the system?
I have had contact with Fitbit helpdesk several times, however either they did not understand what I was saying, or they are just working their way around it and not willing to really help with this.

I have the exact same issue, and I think I’ve had it with previous Fitbits as well. My heart rate is alarmingly high when using workout mode, to the point where I saw a cardiologist. Then I realized that if I don’t start workout mode before doing the exact same workout, like yours, my heart rate tracks at roughly 30 bpm lower, and if I take my pulse on my wrist, it more closely matches what I’m getting in regular mode. This is a serious problem, and has me considering an Apple Watch.

I actually compared several workout modes with a Garmin HRM Dual and the difference in workout mode is really 30 BPM... In regular mode there is no noticable difference. I am now considering WHOOP, which is a totally different price range 😑 such a shame
