I have a charge 5. I turned gps on along with exercise auto detect. I ran 5 miles this morning. On the website my activity is shown along with the heart rate. I don't see the gps map though. Why?

This is what I see.

@allan473   Exercise auto detection (SmartTrack) doesn’t do GPS tracking.  SmartTrack is a feature on many Fitbit models.  It’s the main way to do exercise tracking on Fitbits that don’t have an Exercise app.  You must start/stop your run using the Exercise app on the Charge 5 to get a map.

Hello @allan473

I’m sorry you’re having problems.

I’m not sure why that happened.  When you were running could you see the GPS connecting?

I’ve got running set as one of my Exercise Shortcuts on my tracker and find starting and stopping it on my tracker to be quite straightforward.  When I turn on GPS, when I set off I can see it starting to connect.

When I come back and sync to the App, the map and data are there,

Maybe it would be worth starting the activity from the tracker itself and making sure GPS for that activity is set to On by swiping up from the Run screen on your Charge 5 before you start using it.

I hope that helps a bit.

Thanks WIbby. I will give what you suggest - a manual start - a try. I had been doing it **ahem** an automatic start after I begin running for 10 minutes or longer. I guess the gps doesn't get engaged when I do it that way.
