ECG frustrations - returning watch

The ECG app installed on my phone no problem, but turns out phone is too old and the watch cannot connect with it (I-Phone version 10 something).  I understand now that I cannot use the ECG feature unless I buy a new phone.

So, tried to use it with new I-pad. Bluetooth will not work, no matter how many "fixes" I try it will not pair.

Was really excited about this new watch and the ECG features. I will be returning it. Very frustrating.

@Tessfully   Thank you for the additional information.  Your iPhone 5 can’t support the current Fitbit app.  Your iPad needs to be able to support iOS 13 or newer.  If your iPad can support the current Fitbit app, try removing your Fitbit from the list of Bluetooth devices on your iPhone.

You should replace your iPhone for security reasons.  Your iPhone is not supported by Apple anymore.  You don’t get security updates.  A major security update was released after your phone lost support.  You didn’t get it.  Think about it.

@Tessfully   If your iPhone is an iPhone X, then I’m not sure why you are having trouble.  iPhone 6 and older are the models that are too old.  You might have trouble connecting to your iPad if you set your Fitbit gets notifications from your iPhone.  There is a tight Bluetooth bond when you get notifications.  You need to turn them off in order to sync with your iPad.

I think you should try chatting with Support to see what you might be missing.  There’s a Help link at the bottom of every page.

Thanks for the advice. Will the ECG operate with an iPad? I am confused on what device it needs. I have read elsewhere only a phone will work.

@Tessfully   The App Store only lists an iPhone version of the Fitbit app.  You can put this on your iPad.  The size isn’t optimized for the iPad, so sometimes the display is a little off.  But it works.  The “fine print” is compatible phone/tablet.  I’m confident that if your iPad can support iOS 13 or newer and you have the current version of the Fitbit app on it, you will get the ECG to work.

I have the Fitbit app on my iPad in addition to my iPhone.  I like the larger screen for the Premium workouts.
