Fitbit Charge 5 battery problems since update

How many of you are experiencing battery problems since the update?

Could anyone who's experienced problems with the charge 5 battery please post once on this thread so it's easy to count and present to show it's not a warranty problem and is a result if the update.

I obviously have battery problems. Had to charge it twice yesterday and uninstalled the SpO2 app to try to make the battery last through the night. Managed to wake up to 50% battery instead of it being dead by morning, even though fully charged before bed.

Midday today (8/2), my Charge 5 went dark. When last synced with my phone, the battery showed 70%. I could not do a reset directly on the charge, so I had to do it on the charger. When it finally reset, the battery was down to 14%. Once charged, I checked to see if the tracker was working. It was not tracking steps or heart rate.

I reset again on the watch, changed the clock face and it was still not tracking anything. And the charge plummeted from 100% to 17%. I have reset 2-3 times since then, and the tracker is still not working.
This is ridiculous.

Battery started to discharge quickly. Contacted support, was supposed to hear back in a day or two if this would be covered by warranty. That was 3 weeks ago, case is still pending, with no follow up communication.

After I updated the app, the watch drains from 100% to shut off within 2 hours. Put on charger, recharges to 100% then drains within 2 hours. I have charged 3 times with the same result.

Thanks for the tip! I just haven't wanted to buy the more expensive
tracker/watches. I'm glad you found something that gets the job done & for
a reasonable price.

Mon FITBIT CHARGE 5 s'éteint constamment depuis quelques jours.

My FITBIT CHARGE 5 has been constantly turning off for a few days.

When I plug in the charger, the charge level is still very high (example 86%).

Plugging it in, the display reappears, but after a few moments the sensor turns off again.

Impossible to use it again in this condition.

Can you carry out the repair (battery?) or replacement of the product?

On Monday my Fitbit died, vibrated on charger a few times and is now totally unresponsive. Support suggested things I’d already tried then offered me a 35% discount off a new one. Then cut me off when I was asking how to cancel Fitbit premium!

Google does not care about legacy Fitbit users. It seems their plan is to force a move to a new, more expensive Fitbit, or a Google smart watch. I got tired of it and moved on to a non-alphabet product.

I'd be aghast, but after all the messages I've read since this mess began,
it would be pointless. I believe Google KNOWS there's an issue, it's not
fixable, and they couldn't care less. They just want you to dig into your
pocket. Just say NO, hell no.

Tell the credit card company. They will stop it for you.

Good for you!! I got something else, but the permissions they want me to
agree to in order to download the app are ridiculous. So, I use my
near-useless Fitbit the couple of days a week that it sorta works.
GOOGLE SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED FOR TELLING US TO BUGGER OFF.

Same problem with battery life being exhausted within 24 hours. When I place on charge and get back to 100% it drops back to 71% within an hour.

This has only started to happen in the last week. I have tried a reset and this has not resolved the problem.

BankHoliday, you're lucky the reset hasn't completely killed off your
device. Unless you are still under warranty, time to shop for a non-Google
brand watch if you want a replacement. Good luck.

Thank you and alas your are right. The screen is moving between two clock faces and the battery now runs out within 30 mins.

Game over and non-Google is the way forward.

This entire thread is discouraging. For a long time I’ve been problem free (3 fitbits over the years), but after changing my clock face 2 days ago my battery dies within a day. I was hoping to get some resolution here but seems like there isn’t one, and doesn’t appear that anyone from google is trying to help. 😞.

What products are folks switching to?

Mine is the same and it will not sync. Was working fine until 2 days ago

@tmfitb, switching to non Google products like Garmin (won't sell.your data) models Forerunner or Venu... considered Samsung watch but decided not to do it. Will also never be an apple user. Good luck.

My battery all of a sudden isn't holding its normal battery life. Charged it overnight and was 100% when I put it on at 8.30am. Now 12.30p.m. and is down to 6%. Never had this issue with any of my other fitbits, anyone know what I can do

tmfitb, I moved on with a non-alphabet fitness watch through a company known for their GPS technology. They were first known for their "runner" products in the fitness space. There was a learning curve, but two months in, I am pleased with my decision.

LMillgate, there is literally nothing you can do. Fitbit/ Google will, at best, offer you a % off a newer, more expensive product. All of us in this forum have had the same issues and are being told there is no resolution other than a new unit. Unfortunately, it is probably time to move on to another product, one that the manufacturer will stand behind and support when things go awry.

Should last until they come out with the Charge 7 and just after your warranty runs out... 🙄
