Fitbit Charge 5 battery problems since update

How many of you are experiencing battery problems since the update?

Could anyone who's experienced problems with the charge 5 battery please post once on this thread so it's easy to count and present to show it's not a warranty problem and is a result if the update.

I obviously have battery problems. Had to charge it twice yesterday and uninstalled the SpO2 app to try to make the battery last through the night. Managed to wake up to 50% battery instead of it being dead by morning, even though fully charged before bed.

Funny,  I was thinking the same thing today, now that it us linked with Google..  let's promote their watch, etc.. then they have all our information. Good luck to all.  No response from team since "their fix"didn't work .

So sad, I had always promoted this brand.  Now I guess we need to say..  RUN!! DON'T WASTE YOUR $$

The wife and I got Fitbits in January. She was having problems in the beginning with the sleep functions. and she was becoming very frustrated. Those problems have seem to have rectify themselves, but I really think the doctors did all the work. My Fitbit was working fine up until Saturday and the battery just crapped out totally. I got excited when the one second hold three times with the eight time limit seemed to be working, but it took a couple days and constantly hitting the button three times. Only to give me hope and keep messing with this watch. I really can’t afford to waste this kind of time on this piece of crap! I would like to thank everybody on this blog, and stay safe out there!🙏

My problems seems to miraculously have been solved. I don’t know what I did that was the right thing to do. But I have restarted the device a lot of times on several occations for some days now. The last time I did it was when it was fully loaded. I also changed the GPS from dynamic to phone quite recently. Perhaps one of those things can help someone else. This morning the battery har 87 percent (fully loaded at bedtime). Before that the battery drained from 100 % to zero overnight since a coupe of weeks.

Hopes it stays this way....

Hi same issue. Gone from 5-7 days to 24 hours. Gives random battery level answers almost minute by minute.

Laughing, my Fitbit is currently worthless because it’s stuck on the Fitbit logo and will not reset.  As such, I’m reading through the forums looking for a solution and found this forum for another issue I’ve been having.  For months I’ve been having battery problems but simply thought it was the age of my Fitbit.  Now I’m wondering if it was caused by an update.   At the beginning of the year I only had to charge my Fitbit Charge 5 once a week but now daily and sometimes it still dies after showing 100% charged.   I’ve, also, had the oddity where it has died so I plug it in and it will show some large percentage but then I blink my eyes and it’s then showing 10% or less!

I'm not alone.  I was super excited 9 months ago the new firmware could support Google Pay. I updated the firmware on my Charge 5 and it went to a black screen when I tried to use it to pay. Since then my Charge 5 lost the battery in a day which was able to charge for 6-7 days.  Lately, it stopped working when I started to run even though it was fully charged. Very annoying and frustrating!

Fitbit 5 suddenly not holding a charge. Gone through all the suggested fixes with no luck. It’s only about 18months old. I’ve had fitbits for many years but if this is what’s going to happen after 18months I’ll be shopping around for my next watch

I had a near full charge 8 days ago. Following morning, I was at 14%. Went to charge, connected charger, walked away. Hour later, it hadn't charged and I see the notification I have to download/update software. Guess what you can't do UNLESS THE BATTERY IS AT LEAST 50%? Update software. Guess WHAT ELSE you can't do unless you update? CHARGE THE BATTERY. This Fitbit has been fine since April '22. I don't wear in shower or water. I am LIVID. It is useless.

Mine won't sync, won't pair, won't do anything, even if I use the charge cord button to power it on. It has a seizure and blacks out.

It was not a solved problem. Now the battery lasts 3 days if I restart the device after fully loaded. Before the trouble started it lasted 10 days. I used to wear the Fitbit all the time. Now it’s charging most of the time, it feels wierd to go without it so often.

Google wants you to buy its product. They don't give a fig about Fitbit.
You can complain to them and maybe they'll send you a coupon for 35 - 50%
off on a new one, but I, along with many others, am done.

This problem just randomly appeared for me as well. The battery used to last many days, but suddenly not even a single night after charging to 100%.

Same. 2 nights ago I went to bed with the battery around 70% and woke up to find it died overnight. Charged it before work and by the end of the work day it was at 25%. Charged it again before bed and again didn't make it through the night. Before this it lasted at least 5-6 days between charges. I've turned off so2, eda and ecg but that hasn't helped.

The same for me - 2 days ago device started to act weird:

  • shows rapidly changing levels of battery charge (100% -> 87%-> 55% -> 77%->19% ->37% -> 1% etc)
  • stopped heart rate data collection, but somehow shows resting heart rate
  • while charging - frequently restarts, shows random charge levels
  • Fitbit app on android fails to load new device setup screen - What are you setting up just shows spinning icon...

Been happening for a few months. Now I can't use the alarm because when the alarm goes off it will vibrate and die. If I get my heart rate up to run or even walk up a hill, it will vibrate and die. I tried all the tricks. I just have to have the charge cord on me to "wake it up" any time it dies on me and then re-sync it to get the correct time. The battery charge is all over the place and clearly inaccurate. It isn't really doing anything useful, but I've been wearing a Fitbit for so many years now that my wrist feels naked without it. 😉
