Fitbit Charge 5 battery problems since update

How many of you are experiencing battery problems since the update?

Could anyone who's experienced problems with the charge 5 battery please post once on this thread so it's easy to count and present to show it's not a warranty problem and is a result if the update.

I obviously have battery problems. Had to charge it twice yesterday and uninstalled the SpO2 app to try to make the battery last through the night. Managed to wake up to 50% battery instead of it being dead by morning, even though fully charged before bed.

Complain like the rest of us. Demand your money back or different Fitbit model if you are under warranty. So far they haven't solve the problem.

I would have had the warranty not expired. It's all crap.

Hi I consider myself a long time Fitbit user over past 7 years. My Fitbit charge 5 suddenly went from working perfectly at end of May 2024 to suddenly sometime over first week in June 2024 it can’t hold a battery charge at all. An indicated 100% battery charge now lasts about one hour. Fitbit support have offered me a 35% discount against a new Fitbit charge 6 but I feel they should replace my charge 5 at zero cost to me if problem is related to an update or similar. A Quick Look through social media and Fitbit forums indicate thousands of Fitbit charge 5 customers with similar issue. What’s going on Fitbit/Google?🤔🤬

I started experiencing this yesterday. All my settings were keeping my watch charged at least 5 days. No GPS, no wireless pay, no all day syncing, no text, no music, etc

Now the watch battery dies overnight. I’ve been a Fitbit user 13 years and this is not what I expect from them.

I checked all my settings and the GpS was on. Turned that off resynced, recharged and it’s already dying.

Yep, same here. The hr won't work either

I'm on my 4th one in 3 years. They stop working way too soon.

There was a 30 news bite on one of the national news outlets a few months ago.

Same, it's not a replacement they offer, it's a % off and that's it. Thanks but no thanks

I'm with you! They have to know there's an issue and are ignoring it. My
issues began in the same time frame as yours. There are far too many for
this to be coincidence.

I have recently started having problems with my Fitbit 5 battery (fast draining) after full charging; I also tried all what they have recommended, but in vain.

So not sure if this is a way to replace the tracker.

Best Answer
Yes, probably. But you’ll probably be trading for worse problems.

Mine was working just fine up until about two weeks ago when suddenly I found that instead of four days to a charge, I was lucky to get a day and a half. Then one day. Then less than an hour. I would take my fitbit off the charger and the battery would be drained dead within an hour.

This is absurd.

I couldn't agree more.

Same. Now it won't charge at all.

I agree!!!! I tried to reach out to fitbit customer service and have YET to get a response! Very frustrating when these products cost as much as they do!

Mine starting draining battery today. It died during the night and I recharged it. It died again a few hours later. And now it drains in about 3 minutes. I’ve restarted it in all the ways Fitbit recommends, but nothing. Just outside warranty, who would have thought! And the second one to stop working. I’m leaving Fitbit, no more!

Mine died about 2 days ago.  It's been working fine, then suddenly wouldn't take a charge at all.  Tried all the steps (cleaning contacts, rest, etc.).  It's now totally dead.

So, this is actually a funny story. As mentioned before, since our Charge 5 had the sudden battery issue we have discussing and  the device was still under warranty, Fitbit support offered a replacement with a refurbished device. It arrived today in a very simplistic envelope (only the device without charger or straps), we set up as usual and started the process of updating the apps (not firmware). After a long time, it got rebooting and rebooting with the fitbit logo. At the end, non-response black screen but sensors light do work at the back and bluetooth findable. Followed AGAIN all the instructions in the forum for the NEW issue (reset the device with the charger (which briefly brings back the fitbit logo), changed several watch face, unpair, nothing works blank screen no matter what I try. I can not repair now with the phone as the blank screen doesn't allow me to read the code. What a disaster of a company Fitbit has become. Let´s see what´s the support story this time around.
