I'm curious if others have had the same problem as I had (I've seen sporadic similar reports on these forums). My less than 2 year old Fitbit Charge 5 had been working flawlessly, but then right before launch of the Charge 6, it started glitching. The screen would go blank/nonresponsive and it would completely stop tracking or connecting to my phone via bluetooth. Even with a charged battery. The only way to get it started again was to connect it to the charger cable and it would then reboot right away. It would often still glitch (touchscreen/menu operation) until I did a full 3-press restart using the button on the charger cable. With those restarts, the battery percentage would fluctuate rapidly (both up and down) in a 20+ % range, but otherwise it would be working "normally". But then the same blank screen problem would recur within a few hours or the next day. I hadn't installed the latest Charge 5 firmware update but I had updated the iOS app to the latest (and yuck).
I actually took the opportunity to upgrade to the Charge 6 (using a discount coupon that Fitbit quickly offered me as a result of my device not being in warranty) and setup was painless and operation so far (1 week) has been flawless. The only downside was that I had to migrate my account to Google a couple of years ahead of the deadline.
I'm not one for conspiracy theories, and I am a 10+ year loyal Fitbit user, but it seems like such a coincidence . . .

my fitbit died this week, around the two year mark out of nowhere. I was encouraged by customer support to buy a new one. I'm in the same boat as you, only ever used fitbit trackers for 10+ years, but for the first time, I'm looking into alternatives. Garmin seems to have some decent options in the same size and feature category
