Fitbit Charge 5 dead after swimming

After a recent swim in a pool, my Fitbit Charge 5 vibrated incessantly then proceeded to die.
I troubleshooted the issue by placing my Fitbit in a dessicant (e.g. rice), charging it, and resetting it by holding the button on the charging cable as instructed on the Fitbit website.
I bought this Fitbit just under 1.5 years ago. The only time the Fitbit gets wet is during exercise and swimming as I take it off for other wet activities. Otherwise, I just use it for regular activities like walking around the house to count my steps.
I've never had problems swimming with my Fitbit before. It is quite upsetting to start off my limited time off with such an annoyance having only owned the Fitbit for such a short period of time. Please help me resolve this issue as I do not wish to purchase another Fitbit if it is only going to last me a year with regular use.

This exact same thing happened to me on Saturday and there are quite a few other folks having the same or similar issues. One thing we all have in common...0 useful help from Customer Service. I've had Fitbit devices since 2013, but I'm researching other brands right now because Fitbit's CS has tanked.

Mine is doing this exact same thing currently. I’ve had it 1.5 years and have never had issues with it before. Swam for 10 mins today (not the first time) and it now won’t turn on. It was vibrating constantly for about an hour with a red circle with an x in it. It’s now dead and won’t respond to anything. It was fully charged earlier today. Not too sure what to do now.

I am having the exact issue.   Fitbit stopped working after a brief dip on Saturday. Can’t get the screen to wake up or the device to sync
