Fitbit Charge 5 screen won't turn on

Got a used Fitbit charge 5 from eBay. The seller claims they tested it and it worked.

When I try to use it, the screen remains black. Charging does not change this; the screen is still black.

I press the button on the charging cord three times and the Fitbit logo lights up for a second or two, and then the watch dies again.

The green sensor light turns on when I put the watch to my wrist, and the Fitbit app detects the watch and lets me try to pair to it. The problem is to pair to the watch I need a pin that shows on the watch, but the watch screen is black.

Seems like the watch should theoretically work, is Fitbit intentionally killing watches after their warranty ends to force users to upgrade?

I will be returning the watch, but I don't think this is entirely on the seller given the amount of people on this forum who just happen to have problems with their charge 5 right after warranty.

Thanks for sharing with me the inquiry about your Charge 5. 

I'd suggest you try to follow these steps:

  1. Please sync your device in the Fitbit app by tapping your profile picture > Charge 5 > Sync Now.
  2. If you  can't sync, tap on your profile picture > Charge 5 > Tile to see if a firmware banner appears. 
  3. If it's still unresponsive, please try changing the clock face as well and check if you're able to see anything on the display.

Hi, I have the same issue, my charge 5 screen is black since yesterday. It happened out of a sudden. However the tracker is still working and I’m able to see the updates on my phone. Also the battery gets empty in less than an hour. 
it’s disappointing because my device is only 4months old and it’s the second charge 5 with the same issue in less than a year!

i’m trying to contact your customer support since yestersay and all I get is this msg: There was an issue contacting support.

i’m fitbit member since 2017 and now I’m really disappointed.

I am also having similar issues.  Black screen but green light is blinking and it vibrates for incoming text.  Tried to reset and change clock face but nothing.

I have had a similar problem today with my Charge 5. The tracker screen went dark while walking- no notification of a low battery.The phone app showed the battery half-full.

I kept the tracker on the charger and obtained a full charge. Still no display. It did sync when using the phone app. When I attempted to change the clock display, it displayed that it had to install the particular clock display-started installing the display and hasn't stopped.

The black screen happened suddenly. The tracker had been working okay. It is just under a year old. I would like the warranty honored if this problem cannot be resolved.
