Fitbit Charge 5 unresponsive, flashing red, reset steps don’t work

My Fitbit charge 5 suddenly stopped working, it’s flashing red and is unresponsive.  I tried the reset steps, pressing button on reset strap 3 times for one second and then Connecting disconnecting from the charging strap.  Nothing seems to work, it’s only a year old

Hi, @TSA63, welcome to the community, you may like to review the restarting procedure as demonstrated in this video, note the timing of the button presses & ensure the USB socket the cable is plugged into is "Live".

As you've only had your Charge 5 for about a year, you may benefit from Fitbit's return and warranty policy depending on where you are, and when & from whom you bought it. Contact "Customer Support" using the form steps 1 & 2 and use the Chat facility or better the phone for a prompt response. The agent will need the information mentioned earlier if a warranty claim is considered.
