Fitbit band separates from charge5

I have had my Charge 5 for a couple of months and been very very happy with it until now.  It is my 5th or 6th fitbit and by far the best one to date.   However, during the last week, the band(s) have started to come loose from the side of the module.  If I hold the two ends of the band and pull - they stay well connected, but as soon as there is any lateral (side to side) movement the band pops loose.  In the last week it has come off when removing my coat a number of times and today it fell off when I was shoveling the walk and I was lucky to find it in the snow.  I have tried 3 different bands, and thoroughly cleaned the band receptacles but nothing keeps it firmly in place.  Is this a known problem?   I never had this problem with the charge 3 that it replaced.

Hi, @kitcb, welcome to the community, what you report is not a common issue. Are the bands you are trying "Fitbit" products or are they third party? Is there any evidence of failure in the fitting/aperture on the device? It would be unusual but manufacturing faults can never be discounted. have you tried washing the device and bands in warm soapy water? it's always possible there's a bit of grit fouling up the works.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

My apologies - they were 3rd party bands.   I hunted around and found the original band and it does not have the same problem.  There is an audible click when I attach the band which doesn't happen with the 3rd party bands.   I should have checked this first, but I replaced the band as soon as I received it (I get skin rashes from the plastic bands) and the replacements had worked for some time.  (I've used replacement bands on other fitbits for years and never had a problem)  I put some adhesive tape under the plastic band and will use it until I can find nylon band that works.  Thanks and sorry for the false alarm.

Hi, @kitcb, thanks for the update, I'm pleased you got it sorted out, wearables lead a tough life. We all look twice at the prices on Fitbit for their replacement bands and compare them with third party bands. If the original band is causing irritation you might be interested in this article Fitbit Wear & Care Fitbit have offers on their hook and loop band here in the UK at the moment, there may be similar offers in your home market.

I've tried the hook and loop bands in the past - I like the material, but the Velcro type clasp does not work well when you deal with livestock - Bits of hay etc. stick to it and it both looses it grip over time as well as making it look like you have a small field on your wrist.  😉   I ordered the Charge 5 and replacement bands as soon as the product was available - I suspect that the bands got rushed to market with an improper fitting.   I've had good luck in the past with 3rd party bands from Fintie which are now available so I will try one of those.

I have had my Charge 5 for less then 2 months and my watch band is breaking loose a couple of times a day. I gave read that many people have the same complaint.

I have contacted fitbit and was offered a replacement.  Still waiting for it to arrive. I do hope that they will fix it in their next design, because previous ones were great ,had no problems at all.
