Fitbit Charge 5 over counting steps by double

For the last several weeks the Fitbit charge 5 has been overcounting my steps by almost double. According to several instructions I found I restarted the Fitbit but that did not resolve the problem. Is there anything else I can try to restore accurate step counting?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Please be advised that having your phone listed as a connected device in the Fitbit app may result in a double-counting of steps, as both your phone and your Fitbit device will track your activity.

To resolve this, please check if "Phone" is listed under the "Devices" section in the Fitbit app. If it is, you may disconnect it to prevent duplicate data.
