Fitbit charge 5 stopped working/Battery draining in 3-4 hours

I purchased my Fitbit Charge 5 in Nov 2021, it worked almost well till July 2022 when it stopped working suddenly and wouldnt connect to Bluetooth, worked fine till night before and in morning it wouldnt turn on. After all troubleshooting steps failed, Fitbit replaced it in Aug 2022.

Yesterday there was some issue with Fitbit app i would assume, and app wouldnt open. I charged my Fitbit yesterday night and it was working fine. Today morning suddenly the display wouldnt turn on. Restarted the Fitbit charge 5 and the display was very fade and the screen kept jumping or flashing. Tried to restart and it didnt work anymore.

Connected with Fitbit support over chat and followed all steps but to no avail. Fitbit team send email mentioning my Charge 5 is out of warranty but then my device was replaced due to similar issues in Aug 2022 which is 6 months back so not sure why would it be out of warranty.

Anyone faced similar issue? Any tips on how to make Fitbit work. I had Fitbit Charge 2 and it still works. I think there is some issue with this model since its 2nd time in less than 14 months that i faced the same issue and Fitbit stopped working.

Any advice would be highly appreciated

My Charge 5 is still working, but stopped resetting at midnight and doesn‘t connect to the app anymore.

I just came to read the experience of others with this model. I’ve had a Charge 2, Sense, and now Charge 5. I purchase my Charge 5 July 2022. It stopped working last night (last sync was 8:53pm according to my Fitbit app). I woke up to a black screen. Fitbit support are replacing it for me.

My concern is that Fitbit products haven’t been worth the money when you look at the longevity of it. My first Charge 2 stopped working before 2 years but outside the 1-year warranty. My Sense stopped working after about 21 months. The screen adhesive completely detached from that so I will never purchase that type of a Fitbit watch ever again.

The warranty should be 2 years at least. I think the warranty is one year because Fitbit knows the product will decline after a year and even within a year.

After this replacement Charge 5 stops working (I’ll give it 6-20 months), I’m going to bite the bullet and get an Apple Watch.

My Fitbit Charge 5 has been frozen and will not swipe since the app crashed on Thursday morning, March 2nd. The device is one year and two months old. I also had a premium subscription- until today when I cancelled it. The only support I received was an email with a 35% discount on a new device. They’ve got to be kidding! I will not be buying another Fitbit. Ever. They also told me that no one else is having issues since the app crashed, which I do not believe.

Same here - dead.  Second one lasted a bit longer than the first before it broke.  I'd rather have an item with no warranty that works than one that has a warranty and I have to keep using it.  I'm chucking it in the trash and buying a Garmin again.

Today morning i tried to charge my Fitbit and it started charging and has been working since(6 hrs or so). I tried charging my Fitbit every now and then since it stopped working on Friday, not sure what changed. I dont see a prompt to update the firmware anymore.

I am assuming the update had something to do with Fitbit not working.

I would advice others to try this too. Hopefully it works out for others but then lets see how long it works for me

Fitbit stopped working again on 03/31. Wouldnt turn on even after trying to reset multiple times.

Today when i tried to charge it in evening, it started charging but battery went from 100% to 20% in 4 hours max. GPS is not turned on and nothing else is either.

My Fitbit battery used to last for 7 days or longer before 03/03 when it stopped working after Fitbit app crash/Fit firmware update.

Same Fitbit was working fine before 03/31 since 03/05.

I do think there is some issue with updates that are made by Fitbit team, its harming more than helping. My Dad has a Fitbit and its not even a year old, he is facing the same issue. We have been using Fitbit since 7 years or so but with how Charge 5 has worked or not worked, it feels like Fitbit is driving its customers away to other brands. Very disappointed with Fitbit Charge 5. My Charge 2 still works by the way.

Hopefully Fitbit team does something where the updates they make dont impact the device negatively. Not sure what type of testing is done since after any upgrade ,things get worse instead of getting better

Literally just started having this issue maybe 4 days ago. I just got it in December as a Christmas Present and have been pretty careful with it. I was worried for a moment it's because it got wet when I wore it into the shower accidentally but it's supposed to be water resistant and took it off withing about a minute of realizing it was still on. It didn't get soapy at all or all that wet realistically.

In a way in glad others are having the same issue so I don't feel like I'm going crazy lol. I can't seem to find a way to update the firmware or anything. I just hope it's something that will resolve itself in a other day or so . If not im going to submit something official to Fitbit for help or to look into my warranty

Best advice seems to be change brands. Fitbit gets very positive reviews but it seems the quality of the devices is sub-standard and Fitbit are incapable of addressing the problem. My Charge 5, from November 2022, had a major fit and died in March 2023. Customer Service led me a merry dance of failed fixes and tedious verifications to prove my device existed and I was using a Fitbit charging cable. Then we had the pantomime of returning the defective device to Fitbit. This meant sending it from New Zealand to Australia. That took 3.5 days which seemed very reasonable. Six working days after that I am still waiting for the warehouse to send a receipt to Customer Service that they have received the defective device. Without that I don't get a replacement. Two hours ago I asked yet again, what progress?. Answer there is none. Fitbit are a disgrace, sub-standard quality, painfully slow customer service and ridiculously bureaucratic workflow processes. It's a shame because the their products work they are very good. But 'when' is the kicker.

I can only hope your replacement doesn't take as long as mine has taken. Two weeks since I sent it to them and still waiting for advice on next action. I have asked again for a progress report. Nothing.

I did have issues with my device that i bought in Nov 2021 and they sent a replacement in July 2022 and it already started acting up in March 2023. Its for sure that i am not buying a new Fitbit if it has such bad quality even if they provide me discount. The process of never ending resets and troubleshooting is not worth it. My initial device worked for 7 months and replacement for 6 months.
