Fitbit logged wrong # of steps 2 days this week

Wildly inaccurate number of steps recorded two days this past week. One day was over 36,000 another was over 25,000! I typically walk between 10 and 15,000 steps a day. Today should have been no different. Why would my Fitbit Charge 5 be doing this all of a sudden?

My fitbit does not properly count steps for 3 days now. After different troubleshooting, I finally contacted chat support and was asked to wait until tomorrow; they claim the rollout of the app update will be completed then and might fix the issue. (I didn't bother to tell them but the sleep score is now wonky as well.)
