Fitbit step count isn’t matching the step count on the iPhone app

Hi,

I’ve just noticed that my step count on my Fitbit charge 5 doesn’t match my step count on the Fitbit app on my iPhone 13 Pro, how do I fix it? I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app and restarting my iPhone, but nothing has changed the step count doesn’t match. Please help!

Thanks,

Amina Ahmed

Hello @Amina2

There is currently an issue on the Fitbit side that results in step count discrepancy between Fitbit devices & the app. The team is aware of the issue and is working on fixing the problem. So far, we haven't seen a timeline for the fix. From what I understand, this issue affects multiple Fitbit devices and seems to be a more complex bug.

For now, there isn't any troubleshooting that we can recommend since the problem is on the Fitbit side.

Out of curiosity, do you see more steps on your Charge 5 or in the app?

Hi,

I noticed the next morning that the Fitbit app and charge 5 steps count are back to having the matching step count now, not sure what caused it to do that yesterday. Thanks for the information about the issue.

Hi @Amina2

Thanks for letting us know that your Charge 5 and Fitbit app are back to showing the same step count.

This is one of the reasons that this bug is on the more complex side - it's not consistent. Occasionally, I see step discrepancy between my Pixel Watch 3 and the Fitbit app. It doesn't happen every day. The discrepancy varies anywhere from 7 steps to 100+ steps. Sometimes, the discrepancy doesn't show up until the evening.
