C5 GPS - So after two hours on the phone with Verizon and one with Samsung with no progress, I decided to do a factory reboot on my C5.  It worked.  My walk this morning was mapped perfectly.   Yay!

Unfortunately,  this only worked for one walk.  Tried to reboot again and it did not fix the problem.   Still mapping me walking all over the place.  I've tried all of the fixes and still not accurate.  Not even worth wearing at this point.

I just took a walk (well, behind a lawmower but that still counts).  Checking my exercise in the app, there is no map even though I manually started and stopped my exercise and GPS was on on my phone and I carried my phone.  I have posted a screenshot of what I get where the map used to be.

I'm not sure what happened because it used to work last year before FitBit went to Google. Funny I guess since Google is known for maps.

David, this is an example of what my walks look like.

That's what mine used to look like.  Now they don't.  They're like the example I posted above.

Mine worked perfect for weeks and then I started getting drunk walks.  Unsat.  Had to be an upgrade or something.   I've tried all the solutions offered and still drunk walking.

Drunk walking! That's funny. So are you blaming FitBit or have you been taking a little nip or two from the bottle before your walks? Maybe your FitBit has been doing the drinking! 🤣

Hi, thank you for sharing the screenshots and this information about the issue you've been experiencing with your Charge 5 and the maps, @Dorene1 @SunsetRunner.

If the GPS is getting disconnected during your activity, the Charge 5 may track different information for the the distance. Before considering other options, make sure to follow the steps suggested in this article

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time. In particular, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.

In case the problem is related to the app, please try these additional steps as well:

  • Log out from the app.
  • Clear Cache for the Fitbit app on your phone's settings (Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Storage > Clear cache)
  • Restart your phone.
  • Log back in to check if you're able to see your information.
  • If you're still having trouble, uninstall and reinstall the app.
  • Try to set up your Charge 5 as a new device in your account.

It's hard to tell about GPS. I always use the GPS on my phone which I carry in my pocket. It just so happens that I did the same walk (again behind the lawnmower) this morning. This time I got a line at least but since I reported this the FitBit app has gone through several versions. The latest version came out just this morning and I loaded it before I went out with the lawnmower. It's the one with all the new graphs.

I have attached a screenshot of the map that was on the FitBit app for my exercise this morning. I hope it makes it as I've never replied to a post with an email and attached file. Be an interesting test.

Speaking of the new version of the app, everything I've tried seems to be working except the water. The total water logged is right but when you click on water to add more or to view your graph not all of the added water is appearing. For example today the total says I drank 64 oz which is correct but the detail for today says I haven't drank any water at all. For yesterday the total says 72 oz which is correct but the detail says 56 which is not correct. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

It appears that the screenshot I attached to my post above that I sent by email didn't make it.

Here's the screenshot done online, the old fashioned way.

@DavideFitbit

I think you must have me mixed up with someone else. I'm not having any trouble with my Charge 5 and because of that I have not installed the update. Since it's not "broke" I don't want to "fix" it and have the same troubles as the other people posting here.
