My Charge 5 does not give me my average heart rate after I have finished a swim workout. Or maybe I am not looking in the right place for it?🏊:female_sign:😁

I could be wrong, as I tend not to look at my workout session stats on my tracker, but I don't believe you can see your average HR on the tracker itself. If anywhere, it would be in the stats you can view (on the tracker) after you manually end a workout session.
Have you looked at the swim session in the mobile app, or the web dashboard?
Please correct me if I am wrong about the tracker displaying your average HR.

I had never looked, but did yesterday after I had a running session, and there it was 🙂
I can only guess that they didn't include this in the swimming activity. I am guessing that each activity "app" o the tracker is developed separately from the others, and they didn't include it. You could ask for it as a suggestion on the features board, but they tend to not implement things that don't get a lot of votes.

@schodlbauer fitbit doesn't try to save heart rate readings durring a swim. The water getting under the watch gives unpredictable results.

I wonder is this the case for me too. My fit bit four which is an older model recorded it perfectly and showed what rates exactly you went up and down to. Swimming is my only cardio so extremely disappointed now if this is the case for the new model 5. If I had known I would not have upgraded.

@Flower33 during a manual swim function. fitbit turns off the. Heart Rate for all models of Fitbits. Instead it uses arm motions to determine intensity.
Now fitbit is also able to detect a limited types of swim strokes and auto set your swim. You may be able to see heart rate on the tracker during this time. However the swim tile on the phone doesn't have the option to display HR

Thanks for the reply. At least I know it's not malfunctioning. I wonder why my versa 4 used to display the heart rate when I would click into the zone minutes...I guess my question is how does it calculate the zone minutes to display the zone your heart rate is in and then not show the rates more specifically for the versa 5. Anyway, my musings complete!

It might while on zone minutes during this time period. I don't swim enough jjand only have the bay or ocean. Therefore I can't speak for an auto detected swim, but I notice in swim mode, the sensor still flashes. Then again when the HR is manually disabled, the sensor still flashes.

Ah I see. I might try not activing the swim mode before I go for a swim which I did today trying out the fit bit 5 apparently stops the screen from flashing which didn't really impact on the swim anyway.
I swim a few times a week and it's really my only cardio so I'm hopefully I can get it back to what I was used to last few years with the four!
I do like the new model but this is a disappointing new feature must have only come into effect in last month as it was never an issue as I say before last two years of swims!
Anyway my rant over. Appreciate the sharing of knowledge 😆
