Loyal Fitbit user for many years. Just upgraded from a Charge 2 to Charge 5.
After a few weeks of use the heart rate tracking during heavy excercise has become very erratic, dropping from 160-165 down to 85, then back up. All of this while I am steadily pushing hard in excercise (running or elliptical) with no breaks. It makes no sense.
I never had this problem with my Charge2, and it’s defeating the purpose of the tracker. Has anyone else had this problem? I am considering switching back to the Charge2….

Maybe a "factory reset" will take care of your problem. I upgraded to a Charge5 in April of 2022. My situation is a little different from yours: After the first month it stopped working reliably. I never had any problems with my two other Fitbits. I called Fitbit in July and they told me how to reboot the watch. That worked for about one week, and then Sit stopped recording my heart rate and/or oxygen. So I did a reboot whenever the the watch was not displaying my heart rate or oxygen level. Today I rebooted 3 times, and it still was not working correctly so I called Fitbit again tonight, and they talked me through a "factory reset". I was told I would have to wait 5 days to get an sp02% reading. My heart rate is showing correctly. Because I don't believe this device is reliable, I just ordered a pulse oximeter.
