How do I replace my Charge 5 replacement?

I want to open/install/operate a new Fitbit 5, which replaces a Fitbit 5 that crashed because of swimming. Do I need to completely remove all existing info from the prior Fitbit & remove the App from the phone & IPad? Then reinstall  total fresh apps?

Any tricks for a smooth transition? What I am presently doing isn’t working.

It's all very simple. You should be logged into Fitbit app on phone in previous existing account.  If possible, do a sync from old tracker, but suppose you cannot do that if it has died.

Then, still logged in same account, from Today screen, tap profile pic (circle near top left), then Set up a Device. It will ask which device. Say Charge 5. It should say something like 'I see you already have a Charge 5 set up. Are you replacing this?'  Say yes. and continue answering questions and it takes care of everything for you, and adds all your new data into same account adding right onto previous data.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hi @JHG50  the transition is easier than you think. Just open up your app and set up a new device on an existing account. You don't need a new app on your phone or iPad. Here are more instructions - click to read
