I need BPM data after a run.

I want to assess my heart rate from a 3 mile run. Is there any way, with my Charge 5, to look at my BPM data from my run? I am fairly new runner (started 3 years ago) and have recently been made aware of what my maximum heart rate should be based on my age.

Hello & welcome @JerryJay

You can see your heart rate/BPM data for your completed workouts.

  • From the Today page in the Fitbit app, tap on the Exercise tile
  • Tap on the run you completed to open the page with the metrics tracked
  • The first tab (default) will show a breakdown of time in each of your heart rate zones, breakdown of Active Zone Minutes, and a graph showing your heart rate during your workout along with average and max bpm
  • Touching the graph will show you the bpm with the time that it was recorded

Let us know if there's any other data that you are looking for.

Thank for the welcome and reply RiekoC!

I was able to get all the way to graph but I wasn't able to get it to show the time that the BPM was recorded. This may not be all that important since it is typically only a 30 minute run for the 3 miles. The reality check was I was hitting my max HR fairly often. But the odd thing is that was not out of breath or feeling that my heart was pounding. So no noticeable issues when I stop at a cross-walk.

Now if I can figure out how to set up my Charge 5 to warn me when I'm at my max HR with a warning.

Thank you so much for the help! I appreciate it very much.

Hi @JerryJay

You're very welcome. I'm glad we could help you see your BPM post workout.

As for the graph, I noticed that when I touched a point on the graph, it would display the heart rate and time recorded. I'm a little surprised that you're not seeing the same.

Here's how you set up your Charge 5 for custom max HR so that it gives you a warning when you exceed the limit:

  • From the Today page in the Fitbit app, tap your picture/icon in the upper left to open the Account page
  • Swipe up and tap Activity & Wellness under Settings
  • Tap Heart Settings
  • Tap High & Low Heart Rate
  • Under High Heart Rate, tap Custom to set the Threshold
  • Tap Threshold to set the value (range in my app shows as 100-140 bpm)

You will get a notification when you're heart rate exceeds the set threshold when you've been inactive/not moving for 10 minutes. Note: You won't get a notification when your heart rate exceeds the threshold during a workout.

If what you were looking for is a notification anytime your heart rate exceeds the set threshold, it doesn't seem that Fitbit is currently set up to do that.

RiekoC,

Again, thank you so much for assistance. You have been very helpful.

My problem on the graph was that I was just tapping it. As you noted, I just needed to leave my finger on the graph to see the time/HR. I wish that there would be a way to expand the graph so that I can really drill down on the information.

As far as receiving a notification, I had seen the setting for the high/low heart rate and noticed that the max HR was 140 and that it was based on being "inactive". This, of course, is not helpful at all for me unfortunately. Currently, while on my run, I have to stop and look at my Fitbit to see what my HR is. My main reason for this is that I am a VERY senior runner. So, consequently, at my typical running pace I am at or above my calculated Max HR for my age. I honestly do not feel any adverse affects which would be attributed to maxing my HR out. I will see my doctor in a few weeks and discuss if I'm okay to push myself like this. Even though I actually feel great while running at my current pace and don't feel like what one would expect in this case.

Your help on getting the info from my Fitbit, is very much appreciated!

Jerry
