My Charge 5 inaccurately measures steps and distance when I use a tread mill. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to increase accuracy?

On treadmill distance = steps times stride length.  Generally the treadmill error comes from holding hand rails which keeps the wrist steady so steps are not detected so distance is undercalculated.  However heart rate is still measured so calorie burn and zone minutes should be correct.  One possibility, if can hold hand rail with just non-fitbit wrist, but not worth risking safety.

If steps count and distance are more important to you, can put watch in pocket and probably get good step count and distance but lose heart rate data for that time, and therefore calorie burn and zone minutes.

The same issue is often seen pushing baby carriage or shopping cart.
