Issues with authorised devices

Hi,

I'm new to fitbit, Just today I received a brand new charge 5, and I setup it up using a mail Id which apparently already had an account with fitbit. I anyways used the same and logged in with the password I knew would be. After I was done setting up, the app showed me data for the last year or so even though I've never used a fitibit before this (in fact I've not even put it on my wrist yet). The data showed same calories everyday for the year. Then I checked the authorised devices section of the app, and it showed me 2 devices, one was my phone,  and another was of a laptop whose IP address was around 15 kms away from me. I bought this from amazon, and never been to that location ever.  So don't know what's going on here. Any ideas? Should I return this? Or is it normal?

I think everything is as it should be with no problems as I will explain below.

It is normal for new devices, after setup, to show the same number of calories burned daily back through history.

In your daily calorie burn, Fitbit include your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just to stay alive.  These usually account for more than half your daily calorie burn.  These calories get credited even on days you do not wear your tracker.  And for some unexplained reason, they are also there back through history also - just ignore them.

From How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

For "Authorized Devices", I expect that was under "Account Settings" on an Android phone.  That is actually talking about your Android account, rather than being anything specific to Fitbit.  But good that you are exploring all through the app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
