Major step count difference between Charge 5 and Zip

Been a Fitbit Zip wearer for as long as I can remember.

But they've become hard to find and expensive when you can. And the one I currently acting like it is on its last legs. (Collecting huge step totals when sitting on the dresser overnight, etc.)

Anyway, although I have never been a watch person, I decided to take the leap to the Fitbit Charge 5 since I liked some of its bells and whistles

Over the past few days, I have compared my steps per mile to a week of similar activity with the zip back in November. I am a walker; health issues prevent me from running for any lengthy distance.

Here are the mile totals and avg. steps per mile for the Charge 5: 
Jan. 6 -- 5.12 miles -- 1,990 steps per mile
Jan. 5 -- 6.64 miles -- 2,092 steps per miles
Jan. 4 -- 7.88 miles -- 1,876 steps per mile
Jan. 3 -- 6.67 miles -- 1,958 steps per mile
Now, since winter has arrived in the Midwest, much of this mileage was compiled on a treadmill which could make a difference.

Here are the miles totals and avg. steps per miles for the Zip compiled in mid-Nov. This probably a mix between outdoor walking and the treadmill.

Nov. 20 -- 5.18 miles -- 2,239 steps per mile
Nov. 21 -- 7.78 miles -- 2,211 steps per mile
Nov. 22 -- 7.67 miles -- 2,261 steps per mile

Nov. 23 -- 7.21 miles -- 2,243 steps per mile

The Zip step count seems to be much more consistent with only a 50-step gap between the highest and lowest step per mile total. The Charge 5 clocks in at a whopping 205.

Is there anything I can do so the Charge 5 step count would seem to be more accurate.

 

A couple of other issues. The heart rate while being active seems to run incredibly high.

It will often list a rate in the 120s, while an oximeter on the same hand is in the 80s.

 

How does the sleep App work. It rarely shows me getting more than two or three hours of sleep, when I probably slept seven hours or more. It also has me not falling asleep until hours after I actually went to sleep.
