Maxium heart rate alert

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,  I have been told by my lung physio to not allow my heart rate to go above 110.  I am hoping someone will know of an app I could use to allow my charge 5 to alert me to when my heart is over 110.  I have set up the max heart rate alert when at rest but I really need an alert for when I am moving - ie just going up the stairs hits 108 beats.  Walking I easily hit 110 and I need to know when I have reached this.

Thank you  for any app ideas or even better devices if I have purchased the wrong fit bit - would another device better suit my needs?

Hello @chloe5

I've just been researching a bit for you and yes, the alert is for when you're resting.  However, it looks like you can program custom heart rate zones for the Active Zone Minutes if you want to.  Then you could set Heart Zone Notifications on on your Charge 5 and it would buzz to warn you.  I've never tried it, so can't explain how to do it step by step but am cutting and pasting from the page that describes it.

CUSTOM ZONES

Instead of using these 3 heart-rate zones, you can create a custom zone to target a specific heart rate:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab

     and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Heart Rate Zones.
  3. Enter your custom zone.

On fitbit.com, log into your dashboard, and click the gear icon in the top right. Click Settings

Personal Info and enter your custom zone.

I really hope it helps you!  That must really stressful keeping your heart rate down.  Good luck!

Edited to add: I just had a quick look.

After tapping your profile picture, tap on Activity and Wellness, then Heart Settings.  Tap Heart Rate Zone (Under Exercise), then you can select a Custom Max Heart Rate to the exact number.  I just noticed it says 'If you set a custom zone, you won't get on-wrist heart zone notifications during exercise.'  I'm not sure how that will work.  I guess it's a good idea to set your maximum heart rate and see what happens...

Thank you for looking into this for me.  I have set that up now and it is working.  It is just rather slow at notifying me!  I just tested the device on treadmill mode and got up to 124 beats and had just sat down to rest when it informed me I had reached fat burning which is 110 beats.  So it will work inform me about a minute into having a heart rate of over 110.  My next test will be to see if it work when not in tread mill mode but I am wiped out for the day!

Thank you very much for finding this - even if it is not instantaneous it is still very useful to know I have hit 110 beats.

It is super annoying I am 2 months into a long covid relapse which is just not getting better.  My lung physio has decided that as near to total rest as you can while not staying in bed all the time is needed.  You waste energy if your heart beat goes 60% over your resting heart beat which is why I am stuck with a max if 110 beats.  Not going to be easy but at least my watch will tell me now.   Thank you again
