Last year the charge 5 showed steps and converted them into miles at the same time. I didn’t have to click on exercise to see any distance. Now the Fitbit shows zero miles and 7654 steps (for example). If I open the app it shows the steps and how many miles that is. What changed? How can I get the Fitbit to show both steps and their equivalent distance? Thanks.

@Sleam Are you saying in the app main dashboard for the day, you see steps but no equivalent miles displayed? Could it be the layout you have chosen has changed? And somehow distance has been disabled?
The layout is customizable. Click the pencil on the upper right side to change the presets. You can also check that distance is enabled so it can be displayed.

No that’s not what I’m saying. In the app it shows steps and miles and other information. On the watch it does not. It only records miles IF I turn on an exercise. It only shows steps but doesn’t show that as miles which it did before.

Hello @Sleam
Thanks for clarifying the issue that you're experiencing.
Are you using a clock face that shows distance? If so, is the problem with distance on the clock face or in the tile below the clock face that shows the distance?
Have you had a chance to restart your Charge 5?

I do have the same problem and it is a fault in the charge 5. I contacted Fitbit and they told me they were trying to fix it.

Resending a reply from a Fitbit coordinator We've seen reports from Fitbit users that they aren't seeing distance being tracked in their Fitbit app. This issue has been escalated to the team.
That said, one user noticed that they saw distance tracking again after they disabled automatic stride length and manually entered a stride length in the Fitbit app. Several other users have reported they also saw distance tracking when they used this workaround. If you would like to try this workaround, this help article has the steps on how to manually enter your stride length (<-- click link)
Hopefully, it won't take too long for the issue to be fixed.
