My Charge 5 just started to vibrate randomly and frequently along with the touchscreen not working and flashing the Fitbit logo only. Can I reset it?

Hello, @Travisty3 welcome to the community forums!

Thanks for letting me know about this situation with your Charge 5 vibrating and the screen going on and off, it is actually rebooting. Please, do the following:

- Sync your Charge 5.
- Restart it.

Once you are finished, let me know how it goes and if the situation continues, thanks for your efforts!

Hi there,

I have synced my charge 5 and pressed the charger button 3 times to reset and it is still continuously vibrating and flashing the logo on and off still.

When I take it off charge it just vibrates until the battery goes flat.

What else can I do to fix it?

Regards,
Travis.

i purged user data and re-paired again. Even this does NOT help. No more fitbit.

Nothing will help, the update messed up the os, so there is no cornel anymore for it to load into, hopefully they offer you a replacement.

Keep in mind it happened to mine and even though they offered to replace it, as they sent me a shipping label to return it, they will go dark as soon as they send that email and no support on chat or call will be able to help.

Hello, @zibi1000 It is nice to see you around, thanks for the information provided. And thanks @Travisty3 for the steps followed.

Can you guys change the clock face, please? Of course, after trying to have restarted the Charge 5, this should help solve the situation.

Thanks for your understanding!

Not so bad. If you set to default, do not run an activity tracker, then it is stable for a couple of hours. So if there is a new/older/just whatever else firmware in application, then you can CHAGE firmware and ... bingo (assumming that a new one is not worse than the current one 🙂  ).

Hi @CrisVillaFitbit,

I cannot change the clock face as nothing is achievable on the Fitbit itself. When I open the app it can’t find the charge 5 device and therefore can’t sync properly due the this malfunction. Coincidentally it started not long after updating the new software for the app.

As soon as I put the band on charge it just starts doing the exact same thing, vibrating constantly and flashing the logo until the battery dies again!

can I please get a replacement?

reset to defaults, than load battery, than you can change the face.

Hi @zibi1000,

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I cannot reset it to default at all, even using the button on the usb charger. It simply continues to be in that (reboot?) phase where the intial logo is flashing, band is vibrating and not allowing a sync with the app.
very frustrating, considering it’s less than 24months old!

hi, you do it incorrectly. First, do usb reset. Otherwise it will even not load. It vibrates when power is connected. If so, then first step done.

Next, load till 100% over night. Initially it shows incorrect baterry status, you see 70% but it is 6% indeed.

Than select on fitbit settings > device data > clear user data.

Unpair , Pair back, change screen to default.

OK. i have the final finding. Battery drain persists. When using only for health monitoring (no activity mode) it works only 36 hours.

Then black screen. When i again reset by USB, battery shows 69% - but it is false data. Device is useless without firmware upgrade.
