My Charge 5 died suddenly after 14 months of use. My Charge 4 before that. My Charge 3 before that. All with a life span under 18 months. I called tech support, nothing they can do. Reading many threads, I know I'm not alone.

Is there any reason for me to stay with the fitbit brand, or should I just bail and get a Garmin, that seems to last much longer?

Sadly the simple answer is NO!  By the time you have purchased numerous FitBits after a year/18 months you may as well invest in a different device......one that works.....one that does what it states it will......one that's reliable.
