Need your advice for a new Fitbit model

I got the Charge 5 a couple of years ago and was sufficiently pleased with it. but over a short span of time, the rubber under the backplate became loose (probably from sweat?). i contacted customer service and they sent me a new one for free.

and now that new one is having the same issue. after going through the community FAQ, it seems like a very common problem.

any recommendations of a good, hopefully long-term model?

As a long time Fitbit customer, I would recommend that you consider all of your options for a fitbit replacement, including other comparable models by other companies. Do your research and decide which model you'd like based on your requirements. It may mean you select something different than you were expecting. Hopefully it will also mean longevity.

I second McCranium's suggestion to look into other companies. As you've mentioned, you've seen just how much of a cluster-bleep Fitbit has become in regards to build quality and support, and it does not appear that Google has any interest in improving things or making things right by their long-time customers.

Without naming the brand, since that seems to invoke the ire of the mods, I'll say that I went with another brand that is so much more feature-rich, without locking those features behind a subscription paywall. It has actually helped me improve on my swimming by actually having accurate data, unlike the usually off by at least 10% distances my Charge 5 gave me in the past year. Besides being accurate, it drills down to individual length/lap times, tracks heart rate underwater, and gives me estimates on how effective my training has been and how ready I am for training on any given day. My 100yd pace has improved by nearly ten seconds over the past two months since my Fitbit died.
