This thread is for people still on 188.51 that:
1. Never got an update notification.
2. Tried everything in the recommended thread.
Even with the long problem thread about 194.91, I like to stay current. I bought mine new (3/2/22) and never had issues. I'm on Wi-Fi 95% of the time. Syncs normally (although I'm logged out most of the time since I go back and forth between wife's Luxe and my 5). I use private DNS (which I have to turn off for changing watch faces). I've logged on online, restarted 3-4 times, turned off private DNS for a day, nothing gives the update prompt. Any new suggestions?

You don’t want that update!
I’ll guessing you can’t update because Fitbit probably realized all of us were having problems and halted the rollout.

Please, don't update. As you see on multiple threads, many Charge 5 devices had battery problems/bricked after update 194.91, mine included. I had had a good faith since I got the update 194.91 quite late compared to others, but alas my C5 succumbed to the same fate. I have lost my faith since and moved on to another platform, but for everyone else that are lucky enough to be still on 188.51 and still have faith in Fitbit: don't update. Wait until they released another update to fix 194.91.
Sometimes being up-to-date is not the best decision, especially if the latest had known critical problems like this one.

Yep 100% what happened - when I had issues I asked about a rollback but they stated it wasn't possible - which meant like many other users all they could do was send out a brand new one - which would be factory default. It then only updated to 188.51 - so it's very clear they removed 194.91 from availability.
Why they couldn't just tag a new release which reverted the breaking changes - something very well understand in development - I really do not know. That would have been enough to fix the existing devices, unless the update removed something that couldn't then be restored.
As others have said, do not try and force an update. Wait until a new update is done - if they ever do another one for the Charge 5.

Hello @tcat007
Although the announcement for firmware update 194.91 is still pinned to the Charge 5 product help forum, I believe that update has been halted.
As the other users have mentioned, it's best to wait until another firmware is rolled out.
FWIW, my Charge 5 is still on firmware 188.51.

@RiekoC Do you know when a new firmware update will be released mine is on 194.91 which killed my battery. It now only lasts about 30 mins on a full charge.

Hello @Jfeen82
We haven't heard any news about a firmware update for the Charge 5 from the Fitbit team.
When they finalize and release a firmware update, the announcement will be pinned to the top of the Charge 5 forum.

I saw your message from February 2024 3 months ago with so many issues with the last update how can we move the update along with the Fitbit team? I bought my Fitbit and then upgraded it to have my sleep data in real time so I know if I have to sleep longer. After the last update I have to completely wake up and sync with Fitbit app to see it and by then there is no more sleep.
