Not tracking steps correctly

New to Fitbit, but nothing seems to work for me.  Steps are so far off it’s incredible. I was sitting on my couch last night, got up to get water, and someone it added in over 1500 steps to my count from my time on the couch

I was about to post about the same issue and saw @ddrew360  already did

Very little movement over the wknd due to not feeling well and according to Fitbit I smashed almost 7845 steps in one day, whereas Google fit, on my phone - bought the Charge 5 in an attempt to free myself from, for the same day recorded 2259 steps

I also wear my Fitbit to sleep to track my sleep and make use of the Smart alarm feature which I actually do like, I seem to be racking up steps in my sleep as I tend to wake up with 75-150 steps already on the clock.

Today I worked from home - Google fit - 535 steps, Fitbit - 3621 steps. I've tried switching the selection to "dominant arm", even thought it is on my "non-dominant" arm to reduce sensitivity but the counts are still far out

If I don't get a reasonable response to fix this issue I'll be forced to return the item, which would be a shame as this fits my requirements, I'm not on the market for a smartwatch just to do the things the Charge5 is supposedly more than capable of

Wee update - spoke with "Karen" from the support team and she pointed out I had "MobileTrack" switched on via the MobileApp, which basically counts movement of my phone as steps, in addition to the Fitbit tracker. MobileTrack is there should you forget your tracker at home or something - not sure how/when I switched it on or if it comes on by default when setting up the app

We went through the steps of unpair/disable MobileTrack, reset the Fitbit device and walking 100 steps at a time, 3 times to make sure it was counting the steps properly. Which it did with an addition of 15 - 24 extra steps each time - a lot better than 2000+ steps. This I can live with...

You can find "MobileTrack" in the Fitbit app > click on your profile/contact in the top left hand corner > select Mobile Track and disable > restart your mobile. Probably carry out the reset using the charging cable while plugged in as well to ensure you tick all the boxes.

This seems to have worked for me, hope it helps you out as well.
