Overheating when exercising in sun Charge

I received my Fitbit Charge about 2 weeks ago. I bought it to replace one that got ruined when I wore it swimming for an hour - a surprise to me that it is not water resistant. Now I am on vacation at the beach and went for a run at 8:00 this morning. Midway through, I looked down and the screen had gone black. I guess it overheated. Are they not allowed to be worn in the sun or the water?

Hi, it's good to see you participating in the community forums for the first time, @BeverlyJM.

Thanks for the information provided about this inconvenience with your Charge 5.

Checking the product manual, I can see the operating temperature of the device is around 14° to 113° F (-10° to 45° C). The non operating temperature is 113° to 140°F (45° to 60° C). You can find more information about the environmental conditions here

Let me know if you only experienced this problem once or if it has happened other times or when the device is charging for example.
