I do not use payment and it is difficult to remove it when you want to move to activity.
Stopping timer on swimming is ridiculous you have to open padlock scroll down to stop then scroll down again before timer stops. This makes time recorded as inaccurate.

Hi, thanks for sharing you inquiries about the Charge 5, @Paulcourt.
As you mentioned earlier, the Payment option or Wallet can't be removed from the device for the moment, but I do recommend that you vote for this idea posted in the Feature Suggestion board of the Community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers: Make the Wallet app removable on all Fitbit devices.
This is always helpful for the team of developers to continue to track popularity and demand over time.
Regarding the behavior you mentioned with the timer, let me know what are the options that you see when you get out of Water Lock (the padlock icon) or where exactly are you seeing the Stop option. I just tested this on my Charge 5 and I do see the Water Lock is automatically turned On when you start a swimming activity using the exercise shortcuts, but when I tap twice on the screen to get out of Water Lock, the timer stops automatically and will only continue to track the activity if I tap on Return.
I'll be around.
