I'm somewhat dissatisfied with my new Charge 5 after only 24 hours of use and have now decided to return it and will go back to my Charge 4, the update is not worth it and here is my take on it:
GPS
During my run yesterday it took almost 3 minutes to find the signal to the GPS and in the middle of the run the Charge 5 dropped the signal to the GPS and stopped recording. I have had similar problems before, but I thought Fitbit would have solved the problem by now.
Watchfaces
The options available are too funky for my taste, there is nothing stylish and minimalist to choose from. I think it's strange that you can not build your own faces, or at least set your own preferred colors. I also only care about the time and how many steps I have taken during the day, and again there is no alternative to "lock" the view to just show steps, it is very annoying to tap through the whole menu just to see the steps.
Notifications/Apps
I use my Fitbit for health purposes only, to track my steps and my activity. In the menu, your first option that shows is notifications, followed by starting training, setting alarms, etc. I usually workout twice a day, and not being able to remove / move notifications at the back of the menu is stupid in my opinion. It may not sound annoying, but 2x365 is equal to 730 unnecessary swipes a year. I understand that there are people who will use this feature, but I do not understand where Ftibit has chosen to place it first in the menu. It's like they want Charge 5 to be a smartwatch first, and an activity band later.
Tap to wake / Raise to wake
As I said, I come from Charge 4 and am used to there being a "button" on the side of the device. Charge 5 does not have a button that you can wake the device on, but it is required that you rotate the wrist for the screen to start, or that you double tap on the screen. The problem is that it does not always wake up when you rotate and you have to double tap really hard to get an effect. It's really annoying.
Conclusion
I love Fitbit, and I've owned many units from them and have always been happy. This is the first time I'm actually dissatisfied. It feels like they have rushed production and not thought through everything. That you are not allowed to customize anything at all is a big no no for me, and I say that coming from the Apple ecosystem.
The unit is really nice and I think many will be satisfied, but I am dissatisfied.
2/5, would not recommend if you want to upgrade from Charge 4 to 5.

How would you say the HRM worked for you? Did you think it kept accurate (enough) readings? Or was it all over the place?

HRM actually was good. Didn't have any issue with it.

Glad to hear that!! As I love the feel and look of the device.
