My charge 5 is less than a year old and working fine until recently, now it only synchs if it feels like it, doesn’t count all my steps (I did 22k and it said I’d done 1800!), doesn’t display any metrics for the day or measure my sleep. The “live” chats are a total waste of time. It all seems to have gone wrong since google took over. In desperation I opened a google account and still it’s made no difference. There’s so many complaints about Fitbit now and impossible to get to proper customer service so sick of the frustration with it I emailed the CEO and guess what?, yep, zero response. Why are you so rubbish Fitbit???!!!

Welcome back to the Fitbit community, @Remotecontrol!

Reading your post I immediately could feel your frustration resulting from your experiences with your Charge 5.
Regarding all what you've mentioned I won't try guiding you through any detailed procedures to possibly solve your issues. Instead I'd suggest contacting Fitbit support again to get further assistance and come back to having fun with your Fitbit device:

Fitbit Support Contact

Some users have reported that contacting Fitbit support on Twitter is the best way to get help fast.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

No thanks, I do not have a twitter account and will never want one. On the lookout for an activity tracker with actual customer service now. It won’t be a Fitbit 😡

I feel your pain.  Mine too is less than a year old.  I too would never have a twitter account.  Mine has for the last 2 hours shown only 30 active minutes despite the fact that I have done almost 2k in that time.  Google has been a disaster.  I suspect the reason for my problems is because I won't go for premium & feed them even more money.  My charge 2 was great, the 5 not so much.  It has now decided not to sync.

Never again! Pointless! And I do not have a twitter account and do not ever want one!

Yes, I’ve had 2 fitbits before this and both were great, never a problem. Unfortunately I lost the first one and then my charge 2 I stupidly wore swimming and that killed it! I had no hesitation in buying another Fitbit but so regret it now. I think you’re right about the poor service because we won’t pay for Premium. The Google account I set up is the second most annoying thing after the actual Fitbit. Will be ditching that too.

I’m with you there. Nothing works anymore. Steps are not accurate and sleep is totally gone. Looks like it’s time to get an Apple Watch. 🤬
