I am thinking about purchasing a Fitbit (probably the Charge 5), but I have been hearing lots of rumblings about Google letting it slide and the crashes of the app this week.
Is this still a good time to but a new Fitbit? It sounds great, but I don't want to get one and then have problems very shortly after.
Thanks.

I really loved it until it died a few hours ago, it was 16 months old.
I think I might buy a new one just like it or consider an Apple Watch (which I really don’t need).

Yes if you want something unreliable, I have just had my 4th replacement fail. They all fail in different ways and once you are out of warranty (which starts when you register the first one) then you only get a discount to buy another new one, so think of if as renting rather than buying the device.

Simple answer is "NO!"
It is unreliable!
There are always syncing issues, sometimes it will sync on its own, other times you have to manually sync it. It arbitrarily starts and stops features, such as tracking heart rates.
Active minutes do not seem to have any correlation to steps or mileage - one amount to another!

An update for me. Just got an Apple Watch. Too many folks with the same issues. And seems the newer units are even less reliable. Just a shame as it is a great tracker until it isn’t.
