I don’t know if this is an issue with the tracker or the app. But my sleep has not been recording properly. Sometimes it stops in the middle of the night, even though I sleep for several more hours. There have also been times when it shows no REM sleep at all, or other metrics are way off. I will edit my sleep time to add in the extra hours, but it will often take quite some time to show the changes. Which does seem to indicate the problem might be with the app.

Hello @SongMom
This help page has links to the recommended Troubleshooting sleep steps (<-- click link). You can check if there's any recommendations that you haven't tried yet.
That said, I've noticed that my sleep tracking over the past week has had some issues similar to what you've experienced.
I know there's an update to the Fitbit app, version 4.34, that started rolling out last week. The updates tend to roll out in waves. So keep a watch on your app store and install the update when it's available to you.
Although I haven't seen any confirmation that the update includes any fixes for sleep tracking, we'll have to see if there's improvement after we install the update.
