My Charge 5 does track my sleep. When I am awake it says I am sleeping, when I am sleeping it says I am awake. Occasionally it will actually track my sleep for an hour or so, then stop. Here is a list of what I have tried numerous times:
updated the firm
deleted all my data
restarted the device and the app
deleted and reinstalled the app
updated the app
changed wrists, tightness and wrist band
today I was told to change the sensitivity
Nothing that support has worked. There is an open support ticket that just gets updated with same recommendations I have already listed.
I am open to any suggestions and help.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @pmdeutsch.
Thank you for sharing all these details about the inconvenience you've been having with your Charge 5 and for confirming that you already tried a few troubleshooting steps.
It seems that you already tried all the basic steps that are usually helpful with this type of issues. I've been informed that you've contacted the Customer Support team again for further assistance with this and it seems your case is still being reviewed. In this case, I recommend that you continue the communication with them so they can let you know how to proceed.
See you around.
