Regarding the charging cable, could you please provide a few more details? Keep in mind that in addition to charging your device with the original cable that comes with your Fitbit, you can also use any UL-certified USB wall charger, or another low-energy device.
The Fitbit app also runs in the background to keep you connected with certain Fitbit app features such as automatic syncing, connected GPS, and app notifications from your phone. If the Fitbit app doesn’t run in the background, you may notice issues with app features, such as:
