I bought a Charge 5 as the replacement for a basic Casio wristwatch that I only used to time runs. It's been generally a very nice product. Sleep tracking is something I didn't think would be this useful for example. I do however have two things that annoy me a bit. One hardware based another software.
The software bit is quite simple. This is an extremely sophisticated tracker for running compared to just a watch. I time my runs while also getting a nice GPS track and heart rate log. However even with the always on screen setting it doesn't show the heart rate on screen during the run. That's probably the most interesting information of all to monitor during the run. Total time and pace is nice but I'd give both up if I had to and just have heart rate.
The hardware bit is probably fixable by spending more money but is quite annoying. I picked the all black device and really like how it looked out of the box. Unfortunately with just a few months of usage the band is now completely ratty on the surface. There's this thin surface layer that has peeled off around the edges, the buckle, and anywhere that has friction with anything else. This just seems like really poor quality. I know there are other bands to buy but this all black one is actually pretty much what I want. Maybe there's a third party band that's better but frankly that seems really poor from a device that's not even on the cheap end of this market and where I'm even paying an expensive monthly subscription to get a few extra features.
Any suggestions for either issue are appreciated.
